I have always adored Prince Charles. Even through the whole Diana/Camilla fiasco. Some may think he’s a ‘wimp’ or a spineless mummy’s boy, and god knows all the ‘Diana-Die-Hards’ out there despise him and think he’s Satan’s P.A. But I completely and passionately disagree with all of them.
He is a kind, sympathetic, conscientious, intelligent, wise man – perfectly suited to take over the position of power from his mother (a change-over which is way over due.)
What really excited me about him – and what contradicts most people’s perceptions of him – is that he is a truly modern thinker, and really engaged and switched-on to the crucial domestic problems we have got to start dealing with on these Isles. He highlights our environmental issues, questions and seeks to improve our agricultural systems and food production, and works with many national and international organizations in order to come up with real solutions for both us and the global community.
The front page of the Telegraph today is dominated by a story about the Prince speaking out against the mass development of GM crops, and warning of the devastating impact it will have on the environment worldwide. Read the article in full here.
And not only is he smart, responsible and a reassuring presence in the Palace, he is the most wonderful dresser! Seriously – he is one of our last surviving Monarchs who has an effortless and traditional British flair for fashion! Please – just look at what he’s wearing in the picture accompanying the Daily Telegraph article today: Charcoal blazer, pale blue shirt and tie under a charcoal v-neck sweater, cufflinks, signet ring, jazzy kilt and WAY jazzier long socks. Seasonal? Maybe not. On trend? Well, yes actually – due to the tartan revival that was apparent on the AW08 catwalks back in February.
But that’s all beside the point, because – tell me – who else could pull off pulled-up cornflower blue and moss green checked socks like Prince Charles? Yeah, that’s right. Nobody. The man is a legend.
Will someone just get him on the throne already?!
